returning to campus
My dreams romanticized the return to in-person learning—studying long hours at the library, getting Starbucks with friends during late night work sessions, spending time with my peers in person. However, as I walked onto campus after six quarters online, all I felt was dread. For me, the transition proved just as hard as the shift to online learning, except, this time, the university and many of my professors were less forgiving and understanding of the mental and emotional toll of the complete culture shock of returning to campus. I felt so grateful for the chance to finally interact with others in person, yet at the same time, I was exhausted, stressed, and overwhelmed by the adjustment.
starting my senior capstone project
An important component of the undergraduate bioengineering program at the University of Washington is the completion of a senior capstone project. For my senior capstone, I am working with two other bioengineering undergraduates, along with collaborators at Seattle Children's Hospital and Kathmandu University, to develop a low-cost intravenous drip rate monitor for use in resource-limited healthcare settings in Cambodia and Nepal. I am excited by my project's potential to increase global healthcare accessibility and promote quality patient care in areas where the technology we are accustomed to in the United States is prohibitively expensive.
